Description:

Shrub to 1.75 m. tall; petals yellow, aging black. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
Habitat:

West-facing, rocky limestone slope in pine woods with Pinus cembroides, Quercus microphylla, Rhus, Tillandsia recurvata, Berberis, Sophora, Arctostaphylos, Juniperus, Agave stricta, Senecio, Glandularia, Dalea hospes. Uncommon.
