Entered Dec 2025. Herbarium at Captain Srinivasa Murthy Central Ayurveda Research Centre (CSMCARI) Chennai has accessions dating back to 1960. It mainly contains plants used in Indian traditional medicine systems (Ayurveda and Siddha), and ethno-medicinal practices/ traditional folk medicines in Southern India, especially Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh states of India. The herbarium also houses voucher specimens deposited by researchers/ students from Tamil Nadu, India. CSMCARI-Chennai is also a Drug-Testing Laboratory (DTL) approved by Tamil Nadu State Drug Licensing Authority for providing taxonomic authentication with voucher number, and an NABL accredited laboratory for pharmacognostic testing of ASU(H) drugs.
