Entered July 2019. The herbarium was created around 1965-1968 simultaneously with the Department of Botany of the Biological and Chemical Faculty of the Tula State Lev Tolstoy Pedagogical Institute (now University). First it contained mostly student collections made during annual field botanical practice. Some herbarium collections from Tula Oblast have been gifted to the Herbarium. Since the 1980s scientists of Botany Department started to collect the plant species on the regular basis from the all districts of Tula Oblast. This work is still ongoing. In 2019 the main part of the collection (9000 specimens of vascular plants) was digitazed and georefenced. Now it is available in GBIF https://www.gbif.org/publisher/395ea578-215d-4e45-bf45-b005f320e84b and Moscow Digital Herbarium https://plant.depo.msu.ru/.
