    Entered Jun 2017. In the early 1980s, a group of botanists, horticulturists, and civic leaders got together to plan a new botanical garden, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. One of their priorities was to create an herbarium to collect plants local to the area, and once the garden’s collection was established, plants cultivated in our garden. We are proud that a small number of dedicated volunteers believe in the value of preserving plants for future botanists and scientists.
