    Entered Jun 2016. The collection of algae is related to the Biological Collection of the Universidad Católica Norte at Coquimbo (http://www.redbiodiversidad.cl/ ) which is associated to the Chilean Biodiversity network, related to several universities, to the Minister of the Environment and to the National Natural History Museum (SGO). The collection includes about 1150 specimens. This is material in sheet form, algae fundamentally from the Chilean coast, Mediterranean coast, the US and the Caribbean. The information is computerized and continues to grow. The Herbarium is deposited at the Faculty of Marine Sciences. The collection is part of the Marine Botany Laboratory, and it constitutes an element of support for research and teaching in the university. This service is intended to provide scientific and technical support for research groups, public institutions and private companies.
