    The Herbario Amazónico del Ecuador, ECUAMZ, is part of the Universidad Estatal Amazónica (UEA), a public university, the main campus of which is in Puyo, the capital of Pastaza province. The herbarium is located at the university`s research center, \"Centro de Investigación, Postgrado y Conservación Amazónica, known by the acronym CIPCA, 44 km north of Puyo along the road to Tena (Ecuador highway 45, kilometer 319). The CIPCA center is 3 km north of the town of Santa Clara, Pastaza, and 10 km south of the town of Carlos Julio Arosemena Tola, Napo province. The CIPCA property includes 2848 hectares of which about 2000 hectares are primary forest at 600-1100 m elevation near the base of the Andes, and frontage along the Anzu and Piatua rivers. The herbarium includes collections made in Ecuador since 1985, as well as recent collections since 2012 by herbarium staff and collaborators. The ECUAMZ herbarium is normally open to visitor Monday-Friday, 8:30 to 16:30, but is closed at present due to the virus pandemic (June 2020) on the outskirts of Puyo, Pastaza. In mid-2013, the herbarium will move to permanent quarters at the University`s research station, the \"Centro de Investigación Postgrado y Conservación Amazónica\", CIPCA, with an associated botanical garden, germplasm collecton, phytochemical and molecular laboratories and a primary forest reserve of 2000 hectares, located 44 km north of Puyo along the highway to Tena in Napo province.
