    The main activities at TAN Herbarium are the following - Conservation of herbarium 350 000 mounted specimens divided into 280 families, 1 885 genera and 8 745 species (2019) - Inventory and collection of herbarium specimens - Receipt of collected botanical samples from plant collectors - Mandated by the Malagasy Government to receive the duplicate of specimens collected by foreign and national researchers before any specimens exportation. - Digitizing and data-basing by using Botanical Research And Herbarium Management System (BRAHMS) software. - Support tools for foreign and national researchers and high school students. - Assessment, review of conservation status of malagasy plants. - Partnership with national institutions (Herbier TEF, DBEV and ENS) and international organizations (MBG, RBG Kew, CAS, HBV and IRD). - Supervision of trainee students from public and private universities (on average 60 per year).
