    The HERBARIO UNIVERSITARIO PORT (INBIO-UNELLEZ) has a collection of about 150,000 botanical specimens of vascular plants. The collection is organized in alphabetical order by three main collections: Pteridophytes, Gymnosperms and Angiosperms (PPG and APG system). Herbarium PORT also contains the most modern and representative national vascular plants of the Guayana, Amazon and lowland forests and savannas of Western Llanos of Venezuela. Also, it holds the most comprehensive collection of Pteridophytes of Venezuela, as well as, important collections from the Andean foothills and Guaramacal National Park in the Venezuelan Andes. Herbarium PORT also has a collection of types of Neotropical vascular plants of approximately 500 specimens. The types specimens held by PORT are 70 Holotypes, 110 Isotypes, 280 Paratypes among other ca. 40 type specimens non-specified yet. These type specimens represent ca. 250 species, belonging to 138 genera and 64 families of vascular plants.
