Definition
An extension from the apex of the lower placentae that appears like arms in medial longitudinal section but in an entire flower are conical around the lower part of the stylar chamber.

Notes
This tissue is placental in nature and, thus, the ovules are attached to it. This character is only found in species of Gustavia. Many other species of neotropical Lecythidaceae have vestigial stylar arms.
