  Hood-shaped. From the Latin word cucullus which translates as hood.

• Notes

  In neotropical Lecythidaceae, hood is preffered over the noun cucullus and the adjective cucullate. It may, however, be used in the formation of a name of a taxon, e.g., Eschweilera spiraloculcullata.
