    A Portuguese term referring to land not subject to periodic flooding. Same as tierra firme in Spanish or non-inundated forest in English.

  • Notes

    The greatest number of species of Lecythidaceae occur in lowland terra firme forests. Species diversity of neotropical Lecythidaceae is greatest in the following descending order of importance: terra firme, cloud forest, vázea, igapó, and cerrado.
