Description: Examples of winged fruits dispersed by the wind from Fig. 6 in Mori et al. (1997). The ones with unilateral wings are samaras. The diaspores are either the entire fruit or the fruit segments that break apart and are dispersed.

Definition
Referring to a type of seed dispersal in which the diaspores are carried away from the mother plant by the wind. The most common types of wind-dispersed plants are those with winged fruits and seeds and comose seeds. Same as anemochory.
