Branched inflorescence
-
Definition
An inflorescence with at least two orders of rachises, i.e., the central rachis has branches emanating from it.
-
Notes
In Lecythidaceae, species with branched inflorescences almost always have a mixture of branched and unbranched inflorescences on the same tree but branched inflorescences will almost always predominate. In terms of inflorescence branching one, two, and three orders of branching are the most common types.
