Description: Terra firme forest in central Amazonian Brazil. This photo was taken at Km 41 (also known as Reserve 1501) which is the control reserve for the Biological Dynamics of Forest Fragments Project. In this 100-hectare Lecythidaceae plot there are 39 species and 7,791 individuals of Lecythidaceae. There are 11-24 species per hectare and species of Lecythidaceae are found in each of the 100 hectares (Mori & Lepsch-Cunha, 1995; Mori et al., 2001).
