    A secondary vein is the second thickest vein in a leaf which arise from the midrib (= primary vein) (Hickey, 1973).

  • Notes

    In Lecythidaceae, the number of pairs of secondary veins is useful in classification. This is, however, related to leaf size and there is usually a great deal of overlap in closely related species.
