  • Description

    Palm 12 m tall, to base of crown shaft 9 m, DBH 16 cm, trunk with rings of spines and swollen on upper two-thirds, diameter below crown shaft is 25 cm. Leaf pinnate, ca. 190 pinnae per side, irregularly inserted and at various angles to rachis, sheath 50 cm long x 26 cm wide, petiole to cm long, rachis 2.7 m long. Inflorescence pendulous, consisting of a primary axis ca. 130 cm long, of which 90 cm is covered with rachillae, 102 in number, each ca. 15 cm. long. Fruits globose, green (mesocarp yellow when ripe), ca 3 cm in diameter. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
