Description: Leaves and inflorescences of Acer platanoides based on an unvouchered plant near Sudbury Massachusetts. Note the bud scales at the base of the new flush. This is an intrduced species. Common name = Norway maple.

    Medium to large deciduous tree, rounded crown, densely branched; typically 40' t 60' tall, but can reach 90'; opposite, 5-lleaves, uniform dark green color; numerous small, yellow-green flowers; Fruit (samara) turns green to tan.

    Widely naturalized in North America, specifically Northeastern United States, Eastern Canada, and Northwestern United States and adjacent Canada.
