    Species Description - Subshrubs ca. 0.5 m tall, the stems with minute stellate pubescence, the hairs 0.1 mm long. Leaf blades up to 7 cm long (usually smaller), ovate-triangular to hastate-oblong, basally cordate or hastate with an open acute sinus, coarsely crenate, acute or subobtuse, discolorous, minutely stellate-pubescent, more densely so beneath; petioles Vs the length of the blade or less; stipules ca. 2 mm long, subulate. Flowers sometimes cleistogamic, the pedicels solitary in the leaf axils, 17-23(-40) mm long; involucellar bracts 5, ovate, 4-6 x 2-3 mm; calyx 6-8 mm long, stellate-pubescent; corolla 15-22 mm long, deep rose with a dark center. Fruits ca. 6 mm diam., oblate, minutely pubescent, the mericarps ca. 4 mm long, dorsally rounded and keeled, reticulate-costate. Chromosome number, 2n = 56 (Krapovickas & Cristóbal, 1962).
