    Species Description - Annual, spreading-hirsute, branched at base, with prostrate or weakly ascending stems 0.5–4 dm; lvs 0.5–2 cm wide, mostly wider than long, palmately veined and most of them palmately 3–5-lobulate, the petiole to as long as the blade; lowest lvs opposite; floriferous part of the stem elongate, with alternate, well developed lvs, each with a single axillary fl, the short pedicel elongating to 5–15 mm in fr; sep strongly ciliate, ovate, truncate or subcordate at base, accrescent to 5–7 mm; cor pale bluish, 3–5 mm wide; style 0.6–1.0 mm; fr glabrous, 2.5–3.5 mm, slightly or scarcely notched, globose or broader than high; seeds 1 or 2 per locule, transversely rugose; 2n=56. Native of Europe, established in moist fields and waste ground from N.Y. to O., Ky., and S.C. Apr., May.
