    The new data indicate that B. colombiana is frequent and important in the composition of the Andean silva along the eastern wet-zone front of the Cordillera Oriental in Colombia. It ranges from the SE slopes of Páramo de Sumapaz northwards to the SE slopes of the Sierra Nevada del Cocuy in the Arauca department, mostly between 2700 and 3100 m alt. A significant species commonly associated with B. colombiana and characteristic of these forests is Weinmannia rollottii Killip.
