Description:Latin Diagnosis - Arbor 4-10 m alta, ramulis breviter tomentello-hirsutulis pilis brevibus patentibus vel subpatentibus leviter flexuosis. Stipulae geminatae 3-5 mm longae li-neari-triangulares longiuscule tomentosae, mox deciduae. Folia opposita coriacea 3-5(-7)-juga, axi 5-14 cm longo breve tomentoso, interjugis 1.5-3 cm longis, petiolo 3-5(-7) cm longo. Lamina foliolorum oblongo-elliptica basi obtuse attenuata valde asymmetrica, apice obtusa vel subobtusa, marginibus leviter serrato-dentatis dentibus minutis, interdum subintegra, plerumque 7.5-12.5(-16) × 3 6.2 cm (ratio 2-2.8[-3.5]), sed proximales paulo breviores et terminales plus minusve obovato-ellipticae conspicuissime breviores; supra plana laevis, in adulta glabra vel ad nervos parum pubescens, venorum reticulo discolori conspicuo; subtus viridi-ochraceo-tomentosa, pilis fere brevibus patentibus tenuibus flexuosis interdum sublanatis, costa prominenti subtereti, nervis secundariis 12-15 paribus prominentibus angulo 50-60° divergentibus, nervis tertiis et minoribus in reticulo elevato denso anastomosantibus, alveolis profundis strictis intus papillosis; pe-tioluli laterales 2-7 mm terminales 8-32 mm longi. Stipellae geminae subulatae vel lineari-triangulatae acutae crassiusculae praecipue basim versus incrassatae, 2.5-4.5 mm longae. Inflorescentiae foliis subtendentibus breviores omnes ochra-ceo-ferrugineae tomentosae; pedunculi 2-4 mm longi, pedicelli 2-5(-7) mm longi breviter denseque tomentosi. Flores plerumque 5-meri. Calyx complanatus 1012 mm diam, lobis triangularibus acutis crassiusculis extus viridi-ferruginei-to-mentulosis intus adpresse villosis. Carpelli in [female] floribus 2-3. Folliculi saepe 2-1 dense tomentoso-hispidi, 13-14 mm longi oblongo-ellipsoidei apice acuto; endocarps valde duro rigido ellipsoideo acuto 11-13 mm longo; semina dua vel singula ca. 4 mm longa laevia brunnea nitidissima.

Discussion:Subspecies susaconensis differs from subsp, propinqua in the simply geminate stipules, and rather larger leaflets which are tomentulose beneath, the hairs being shorter, very thin and more flexuous, sometimes even crisped. See the key.
