Species Description - Annual; stem 1–4 dm, glabrous or nearly so; lvs sessile, lanceolate to oblong, elliptic, or oblanceolate, 2–4 cm, narrowed to the base; pedicels stout, erect, 1–4(–10) mm; bractlets closely subtending and about equaling the cal; sep narrowly lanceolate, 4–6 mm; cor white, marked with purple lines internally, 8–12 mm; fr 5–9 mm; 2n=16. Wet woods; N.J. to O., Ill., and Io., s. to Fla. and Tex. May.
