    Species Description - Much like no. 1 [Agastache nepetoides (L.) Kuntze]; lvs glabrous to villous beneath; spikes cylindric or tapering, to 15 cm, 1.5-2 cm thick (including the cors); bracts round- ovate, caudate-acuminate, often projecting; cal 7-9 mm at anthesis, the lobes 2-2.5 mm, lance-triangular, with straight or concave sides, sharply acute or acuminate; cor purplish. Upland woods; Vt. and N.Y. to Minn. and e. S.D., s. to N.C. and e. Kans. Aug., Sept.
