  Genus Description - Cal regular, campanulate or broadly tubular, 10-nerved, its lobes triangular; cor almost regular, the tube exsert, gradually widened upwards, the upper lip shallowly 2-lobed, straight or up curved, the lower lip spreading, its 3 lobes short and rounded; stamens 4, straight or somewhat divergent, exsert, the lower pair the longer; nutlets oblong or ovoid; herbs or half-shrubs with small fls subtended by overlapping bracts in dense terminal and axillary spikes. 35, mainly Eurasia.
