    Species Description - Stems 2–6 dm, mostly simple, usually papillate-puberulent; lvs lanceolate to ovate, 2–6 cm, thin but firm, finely scabro-ciliolate especially toward the base; fls few in a crowded terminal cluster; cal-tube glabrous or papillate-puberulent in lines, the lobes oblanceolate, often foliaceous, 10–25+ mm, finely scabro-ciliolate; cor blue, 3.5–5.5 cm, distinctly open to nearly closed, the lobes erect to often somewhat outcurved, ovate, obtuse to acute, usually 2–4 mm longer than the ± bifid plaits; anthers connate. Moist or wet woods and swamps on the coastal plain; N.J. to n. Fla. Sept., Oct. (Dasystephana parvifolia)
