Description
Species Description - Much like no. 1 [Sabatia difformis (L.) Druce], but biennial and mostly single-stemmed; lvs commonly 3-nerved, lanceolate to linear, broadest near the middle, abruptly narrowed to an obtuse or subacute base, or the lower more oblong or even ovate and often clasping; cal-lobes 3–8 mm, less than 0.5 mm wide; cor-lobes white, drying saffron, 6–13 mm; 2n=32, 34. Wet or dry pine-lands, fields, sand-hills, and flat-woods; se. Va. to Fla., more often on the piedmont than the coastal plain. June, July. (S. paniculata, misapplied)
