    Species Description - Perennial from slender rhizomes, erect, simple or sparingly branched above, 3–6 dm; lvs lanceolate or lance-linear, entire or nearly so, revolute, 2–4 cm × 3–8 mm, the uppermost or all but the lowermost ones alternate; pubescence of the younger stems, upper lf-surface, pedicels and fr soft and usually dense, composed of straight, spreading or somewhat ascending hairs; pet notched, pink, 5–8 mm; coma pale dingy brown. Bogs and swamps; Que. to Minn., s. to Va., O., and n. Ill. (E. densum; E. molle Torr., not Lam.)
