Description
Species Description - Stems prostrate, to 7 dm, branched and often mat- forming, densely villous to subglabrous; petioles mostly 1–2 cm; stipules lanceolate, 2–5 mm; lfls broadly ovate to elliptic to rotund, 1–3 cm, rounded at both ends; panicles terminal or from the upper axils, to 4 dm; fls 4–5 mm, purple; stipe 1.5–2.5 mm; articles 2–4, 4–6 × 3–4 mm. Dry upland woods and barrens, especially in sandy soil on the coastal plain; se. Md. to Fla. and Tex. July, Aug. (Meibomia arenicola)
