    Species Description - Perennial from a stout taproot, not stoloniferous; stems prostrate, pubescent, 1–2 dm; lfls linear to oblanceolate, 2–6 cm, 3–7 times as long as wide, thinly silky beneath; peduncles thinly hairy, 4–10 cm, pedicels hairy; fls 10–12 mm; cal hirsutulous, the tube 1.5–2 mm, the lobes linear, 3–4.5 mm; cor nearly white, the standard broadly obovate-oblong, obtuse, exceeding the obtuse wings. Shale-barrens; s. Pa., Md., w. Va., and W.Va. May, June.
