Description
Species Description - Erect, rhizomatous, usually robust perennial to 15 dm; stipules connate, lanceolate to deltoid, 3–18 mm; lfls 15–35, oblong or elliptic, 1–4 cm, strigose beneath with malpighian hairs; racemes long-peduncled, 5–15 cm, with spreading or somewhat reflexed, white or ochroleucous fls 12–17 mm; pods numerous, crowded, erect, 10–15 mm, bilocular, subterete with the ventral suture keeled, glabrous, or seldom short-hairy; 2n=16. Open woods, river-banks, and shores, usually in moist soil; throughout most of the U.S. and s. Can.; Siberia. June–Aug.
