    Species Description - Shrub to 2 m; lvs leathery, lanceolate to lance-elliptic or oblong, 3–7 cm, entire or minutely serrulate, ciliate, acuminate; petioles 5–10 cm; fls solitary at the nodes of an elongate, bracteate raceme, the short pedicel 2-bracteolate near the middle, the few to several racemes each 3–6 cm, forming a terminal panicle; sep triangular, 2–3 mm; cor 5–6 mm; fr 5–6 mm; seeds 2.5–3 mm. Mt. woods; Va. and W.Va. to Ga. May. (Andromeda f.)
