Genus Description - Sep oblong, obtuse; pet yellow, spatulate, gradually tapering into the claw; each short stamen flanked by a pair of fleshy, U-shaped glands, the arms with short lateral processes; ovules 2 per locule; fr firm, thick-walled, indehiscent, very slightly compressed, reticulate and pitted; branching annuals with minute fls and clasping sessile lvs. 2, Mediterranean and Near East.
