Description
Description - Leaves chartaceous to subcoriaceous, acuminate, broadest near the middle; veins prominent beneath; stipules up to 10 mm long, not or slightly incurved. Fruiting perianth 7-10 mm high.

Discussion
This subspecies resembles subsp araguensis in the characters of the leaves. The stipules are often longer than 10 mm. It seems to differ ecologically from the other two subspecies.

Distribution
(Fig 4). Venezuela: northern Aragua, Carabobo, and Federal District; in (cloud) forests at elevations between 800 and 1600 m.
