Description
Species Description - The specimens agree exactly with the external characters of the type preserved in the Museum d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris. But Nylander says that the spores are 1 to 2 in the ascus and 80 115 x 34 36 , in size; while the present material shows spores 2 to 4 in the ascus and only 38-50 x 14-18 in size. It is to be expected, however, that with a larger number of spores in the ascus the size should be smaller. A similar condition is found in species of Pertusaria, for example, Pertusaria leioplaca (Ach.) Schaer.
