  Species Description - Annual, 3–7 dm; pet 5–8, red with a dark basal spot, 8–15 mm; anthers blackish-purple; achenes glabrous, with a straight beak; 2n=32. Native of Eurasia, occasionally escaped in our range, esp. toward the south. Late summer.
