    Species Description - Plants 2-3 mm wide, pale green, growing in loose mats or creeping among vegetation. Leaves alternate, widely spreading, distant to subimbricate, ovate, ca. 1.5 times longer than wide, symmetrical, bifid to 1/5-1/4 of length, with a broad, rounded sinus and acuminate lobes, uniseriate tips 3-6 cells long, leaf margins entire. Cells in midleaf isodiametrical, ca. 25-30 µm in diameter, thin-walled, trigones small, cuticle smooth. Underleaves 1-2 times as wide as stem, bifid to near base, with a short or long, fragile tooth on outer margins, underleaf bases free, on 1 side approaching leaves. Autoicous or dioicous.
