Variety Description - Blade widest at the middle, tapering to the base, pale green, herbaceous; basal sheath membranous and ephemeral; spores avg 50–60 microns; grassy marsh-edges and ditches; northern, mostly n. of the glacial boundary, but s. in the mts. to s. Va. (O. pusillum)
