    Species Description - Slender, 3–6 dm; foliage lvs (1)2–3, linear, 5–25 cm, folded; upper lvs several, much reduced, narrowly linear; infl compact, cylindric, 4–10 × 2–2.5 cm; bracts lance-subulate, shorter than the ovary; fls numerous, white, the lip uppermost, narrowly lanceolate or oblong, 6–8 mm, entire; spur slender, directed horizontally, 11–23 mm, usually abruptly bent near the tip; pollen-sacs adjacent, the viscidia in contact. Open acid bogs on the coastal plain; s. N.J. and Del. to Fla. and Tex. Aug., Sept. (Gymnadeniopsis n.; Platanthera n.)
