    Species Description - Slender, erect, 1–4 dm at anthesis; lvs 1–4, commonly 3, sessile, oval to oblong or lanceolate, 6–12 × 1–4 cm, acute or acuminate, glabrous; raceme long-peduncled, surpassing the lvs; fls 3–8, 8 mm wide; fr dark red; 2n=36. Wet woods and sphagnum-bogs; Nf. and Lab. to Mack. and B.C., s. to N.J., O., Mich., and Minn.; also in n. Asia. May–June. (Maianthemum t.; Vagnera t.)
