Description
Genus Description - Perianth deeply 6-parted, its segments spreading at anthesis, erect and persistent in fr; stamens 6, erect, shorter than the perianth; ovary half-inferior, with numerous ovules; fr subglobose, many-seeded, tipped by the persistent style which eventually splits longitudinally; seeds elliptic to fusiform; no red pigments. Monotypic.
