• Discussion

  I am unable to maintain Diodia pro strata Sw. and D. teres as separate species, and in the following treatment consider them as interrelated subspecies. Diodia teres Walter, published in Apr-Jun 1788 in Flora Caroliniana, has priority over D. prostrata Swartz, published in July 1788 in Prodromus Nova Genera & Species Plantarum (Stafleu, Taxonomic Literature, pp. 462 and 493. 1967). Since D. teres has publication priority, D. prostrata Sw. is here treated as subspecies.
