  • Discussion

Miquel correctly described the stigmas as “duobus teretiusculis” (Stirp. Sur. 179. 1850), which are linear, and elongated to 0.2 mm long, but Schumann (Mart. FI. Bras. 6(6): 23. 1888) incorrectly described them as “clavato” and in his plate 70, f. 2 of the same work they are depicted as entire and clavate, whereas they are definitely split into two distinct stigmas. Schumann also stated the disk to be “integro,” whereas a careful dissection shows the disk to be divided in the middle.
