Discussion
In addition to the above variations, Chodat & Hassler (Bull. Herb. Boiss. II. 4: 191. 1904) described from Paraguay Mitrocarpus frigidus var glaberrimus with all parts of the plants, except the flowers, glabrous. From Peru the following variety with large corollas, reduced shorter pairs of sepals, and short bristles of the stipular sheath.
