  • Discussion

This species has been confused and misidentified with both P. petiolaris and P. andaluciana Standi. From P. petiolaris it can be readily distinguished by the shorter inflorescence of a broadly ovoid-suborbicular type with elongated lowest branches usually exceeding half the length of the inflorescence, by the non-pustulate lower leaf surface, fewer pairs of lateral nerves with relatively narrower leaf blades, fewer-flowered lower axes of the inflorescence, and mainly glabrous corolla and hypanthium.

From P. andaluciana it differs in the glabrous and smaller corollas, the strongly elevated lateral nerves of the leaf blades, the longer and less fleshy pedicels, and the different leaf shape.
