The Bolivian collection was published as a nomen nudum by Herzog in Meded. Ryks. Herb. 46: 26. 1922, since he does not describe his collection but merely cites the words “Bl. goldgelb” and “strauch” as the descriptive part of his herbarium label.
This form has much smaller and narrower leaves, and much shorter inflorescences than P. rigida subsp rigida f angustior Chod. & Hassl., described originally from Paraguay, but occurring within the range of the species in Venezuela, Bolivia, Brazil, and elsewhere.
