This species is distinct in possessing finely velutinous stems and stipules, softly pubescent lower leaf surface, young leaf bases with a golden-tawny pubescence, externally pubescent corollas, pubescent involucral bracts, densely tomentose ovary, calyx tube 2-3 times the length of the ovary, and the interior pubescence of the corolla tube situated low in the tube as in Palicourea.
