The ventral side of the seed face on some specimens varies from one having a longitudinal groove with lateral lobes to others (more mature) without either groove or lobing. While the anthers of the long-styled flowers of this species are conspicuously apiculate and the stigmas of the long-styled flowers are ovate-suborbicular and rounded or obtuse, in the short-styled flowers of Tillett, Tillett & Boyan 44821-A the anthers are not apiculate and the stigmas are oblong-elliptic or spathulate-elliptic.
