Discussion:Six unequal bracts subtend the inflorescence with two longer bracts 3.5-5 × 0.9-1.1 mm, the others 2.5-3 × 0.5-0.9 mm. The heads are 5-9-flowered. The species is characterized by the small, few-flowered heads, short peduncles, puberulous exterior of corolla, pilose hypanthium, prominent, acuminate, pilose calyx lobes, short involucral bracts, and pubescent stems and leaves. It is closely related to P. hoffmannseggiana.
