• Discussion

  This taxon has the involucral bracts inserted at the base of the lowest axes of the inflorescence, in this respect being allied to P. barbiflora A.DC. and P. hoffmannseggiana. It is distinguished from P. lupulina Benth. and allies by the position of the involucral bracts at the base of the inflorescence rather than being borne above on the axes themselves.
