Monographs Details: Psychotria phaneroloma Standl. & Steyerm.
Authority: Maguire, Bassett. 1972. The botany of the Guayana Highland--part IX. Mem. New York Bot. Gard. 23: 1-832.
Discussion:Examination of the type collections of P. racemifera and P. polycephala shows that the two are conspecific. The rachis of the inflorescence in P. racemifera is often more minutely puberulent as compared with the glabrous rachis of the inflorescence on the type collection of P. polycephala. However, this character is variable and in a series of specimens one encounters glabrate, glabrous, and minutely puberulent gradations.
